Block Clearance Therapy

Block Clearance Therapy (BCT) is a comprehensive holistic method aimed at achieving harmony among the mind, body, heart, and spirit. This approach considers various aspects of our existence, including our physical health, emotional well-being, and spiritual beliefs—if we possess any.

Practically speaking,  a BCT session includes dialogue, a guided visualization and affirmations to rewire or reprogram our subconscious mind.

Why is the subconscious mind important?

While our conscious mind makes up only about 20-25% of our mental landscape, the remaining 75-80% consists of the subconscious. This often-underutilized part of the mind is a repository of wisdom gathered throughout our soul's journey. It contains answers to our life questions and aims to keep us safe, even if that means maintaining the status quo.

The subconscious reveals its influence when we strive for change but find ourselves hindered by fears, doubts and procrastination. It communicates with us through dreams, strong emotions, or when we are unexpectedly moved by events such as stories, songs, films, or books.

The subconscious serves as the foundation for our entire being. If well-established, it enables us to build a stable life. Similarly, it functions like a computer's hard drive. With a robust and secure operating system, we can add new software applications that operate smoothly. A strong subconscious is crucial for living confidently and securely in the world.

The subconscious is also the keeper of our core beliefs about ourselves and the world. It houses our "internal working model," a term coined by John Bowlby, which is essentially a mental map of our hopes and expectations regarding our relationships. These core beliefs are shaped by emotional experiences in our early relationships with caregivers. As we navigate life, these experiences are sorted and organized into patterns based on our values. These patterns, both beneficial and detrimental, guide our perception and reactions as we go forward.

In Block Clearance Therapy, the focus is on identifying and addressing maladaptive patterns that are obstructing your progress. These could range from feelings of insecurity and expectations of rejection to deeper issues like abandonment and mistrust. Originating from deep-rooted emotions, these patterns form as coping mechanisms but may become detrimental over time. The emotions that birthed these coping strategies are often suppressed due to past circumstances but remain stored in the subconscious. They can be thawed, understood, and released through therapy.

As a BCT therapist, my role is to identify these disruptive patterns and assist you in understanding them. Once the root emotions and lessons are understood, the subconscious can be reprogrammed using affirmations to incorporate new perspectives and ways of being. Affirmations serve to build new neural pathways in the mind, equipping the brain to adapt to novel situations.

One of the most remarkable features of BCT is that it allows for emotional healing without the need to relive the painful experiences. Thanks to the structured guided visualization techniques designed by Dr. Patricia Sterry, we can access and process these emotions safely. This approach makes it possible to witness, explore, understand, and ,ultimately, release the emotions that have been holding us back
